President, AMSA
Seniru Mudannayake (he/him) is a penultimate-year medical student at Monash University and current President of the Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA), representing over 20,000 medical students nationwide. He has also run a small business, and worked as a labourer, precision medicine researcher, and Mandarin teaching assistant!
Motivated by his lived experience of placement poverty, Seniru is a strong advocate for a more equitable and sustainable medical training system. He is particularly passionate about the future of general practice, sitting on the Federal Health Minister’s GP Training Advisory Committee, with a focus on strengthening pathways into rural and underserved communities and addressing the structural barriers that shape workforce distribution.
Through his team’s leadership, AMSA amplifies the medical student voice, drives national advocacy, and works collaboratively to support a thriving, accessible GP workforce for all communities.
