Dr Alison Green

Dr Alison Green is a GP working in Brisbane, across 2 private billing cradle-to-grave traditional general practices.  She grew up in Toowoomba, and medicine is her second career – she lived and worked in Canberra in the early 2000s working in law and policy for the federal government.  She made the now-or-never jump to complete her MBBS at the University of Queensland, followed by hospital years, twin parenthood, exploration of non-GP specialties and ultimately Fellowship of the RACGP.  She has worked as an academic and completed a Master of Philosophy on the experiences of GPs in diagnosing and commencing treatment for Gestational Diabetes.  In more recent years she has directed time and energy to advocacy, is a member elected Director of the AMAQ Board, as well as being an elected GP representative to the AMAQ Council and a member of the AMAQ Committee of General Practice.  Her advocacy priorities include improved clinical handover between primary and secondary/tertiary care, and, of course, appropriate remuneration for the vital work of primary health care, where most Australians receive most of their healthcare.
